WIPO releases roster of its technical assistance consultants (2005-2008)

In preparation for the 3rd meeting of the WIPO Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP), WIPO published a 31 page document (CDIP/3/2) on March 18, 2009 listing a roster of consultants for technical assistance the Organization employed from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2008. This is a welcome step in providing greater transparency into WIPO’s technical assistance activities. No doubt, Member States and other relevant stakeholders can seek further clarification from the Secretariat on the nature of the technical assistance detailed in the roster at the 3rd session of the CDIP.This roster is in response to Recommendation 6 of the WIPO Development Agenda which states:

WIPO’s technical assistance staff and consultants shall continue to be neutral and accountable, by paying particular attention to the existing Code of Ethics, and by avoiding potential conflicts of interest. WIPO shall draw up and make widely known to the Member States a roster of consultants for technical assistance available with WIPO.
