Federal funding to organizations for projects related to chimeric antigen receptors

The attached PDF file was prepared by Dr. Diane Singhroy, for Patients for Affordable Drugs. DR. Singhroy performed a keyword search in the NIH RePorter database, (https://projectreporter.nih.gov/reporter.cfm) for all projects since 1993 containing the phrase “chimeric antigen receptor” (CAR), as of July 25, 2017.

The search yielded 356 projects that were reviewed to ensure projects were indeed related to chimeric antigen receptor research. The data was exported to a spreadsheet through the ‘data and visualize’ (DV) tool provided on the website. Specifically, the DV tool enabled us to sort projects based on funding amount, recipient or year.

Note that the NIH-reporter database is routinely updated and search outputs may slightly vary.
On July 25, 2017 federal taxpayers have paid at least $204 million for CAR research.
